There are millions of stories just floating around waiting to be told. Taxi is a home to these stories. Taxi was born out of the desire to make magic. The beginning of Taxi was epiphanic, literally. This editorial was born out of the simple need to tell stories.

At Taxi, we optimize to put out work that engages people of all calibres. We are heavily interested in underrepresented demographics, esoteric communities as well as the average typical individuals. We want our reader's hearts to stretch to accommodate the breadth of the new stories we are telling. We want you to read our work and be filled with the visceral urge to make magic as well or even simply be content with the knowledge that whatever medium is yours, all life is art. The 3 words that most accurately describe our content at the moment are; opinion, thought and conversation. We are putting out essays that provide a fresh perspective on politics and societal issues. We value the voice of our writers and this reflects in the quality of work that is produced. We are also putting out personal essays from writers on subject matters that are peculiar to these individuals like love, grief and personhood.

We are also putting out interviews with people of interest to us ranging from artists to designers to authors. Our editorial is small and independent. We have big plans and these plans can only come to fruition with support from people. Feel free to support us in any capacity you can; send us kind words, buy us a coffee, check out our socials and most importantly read our work. We are looking forward to traveling this journey with you.

In Conversation with Yomi Chibuikem Folaranmi: On Art, Poetry, and Finding Voice

A deep dive into the artistic journey of Yomi Chibuikem Folaranmi, exploring his evolution as a poet and visual artist, his experiences across continents, and his thoughts on art, identity, and human dignity. Yomi Chibuikem Folaranmi describes himself as 'something like an anarchist or socialist'. His art is expansive, spanning several mediums like poetry, photography and painting. Currently studying for an MSc in Visual, Material and Museum Anthropology at the University of Oxford, he holds a BA and MA in Comparative Literature from University College London. His poetry has appeared in the Poetry Foundation. "Besides the constant, unquantifiable encouragement and support from my family, when I was in primary school in Enugu I was very fortunate to have a teacher who was very interested in writing and in literature and culture in general. She was or is a British-Guyanese-Nigerian woman called Rosa Chukwu, Aunty Rosa. She also taught music and geography. She's a dear friend of mine now, if I can say that, and one of the best people I've ever known. She ran a writing workshop at school on, I think, Friday mornings."
